Micello presents indoor maps for mobile devices
Micello launches inside mapping platform
A Californian start-up company with the regional engineering office in Chennai, India, Micello, launches a new application that allows users to explore and navigate “inside” places of interest using an iPhone. The company pitchmen call it “Google Maps Inside A Building”.
A new mapping platform for the indoor world takes you inside malls, resorts, stadiums, and other complex indoor spaces. The application also allow users search for some store in a mall. It also integrates online social networks, what could be useful for planning a social event or meeting. Micello plans to bring maps of more than 150 locations online this fall. The execs say it takes just a few hours to create an “inside” map, incorporating crowd-sourced data from the users.
Micello wish to add about 10 maps per day. Now they are focusing on the Bay Area, but the platform will expand to other areas. It will also add some features like helping you find your car, as well as directing you from one store to another in a mall. The application is free as the company plans will make money through advertising and promotions.
