Santa Tracker 2009 – NORAD Radars Zoom Us Again To Santa’s Current Location

Where Is Santa Now? For many of us tracking Santa’s route around the world is becoming a new Christmas tradition and also one of the favorite Christmas online activities. This year Santa Tracker again goes live Christmas Eve combining the search power of Google and the Norad (North American Air Defense) Radar System called the North Warning System.

This powerful radar tracking system consists of 47 units across the northern border of North America. Starting at 2 a.m. EST on Dec. 24, Santa’s current location will be tracked all day by the same satellites that NORAD command uses to monitor possible missile launches aimed at North America. These efforts allow tech-savvy kids (or parents) around the world to follow Santa tracking in real time on the NORAD Santa Tracker website. NORAD will also record a videotape of the Santa flight with its “Santa Cams”. Each Santa Cam is a top-notch high-speed digital video camera. Santa cams are positioned at many places around the world and are also installed on a dozen NORAD fighters in Canada and the United States which allows NORAD to capture images of Santa and the Reindeer’s team as they make their magical Christmas journey.
