Era Chosen To Supply Squid Vehicle Tracking Units For Frankfurt Airport

Era a.s.  announced that the Fraport AG Frankfurt Airport Services Worldwide has chosen its service to supply 228 of last generation Squid vehicle tracking units for Germany’s busiest international Airport at Frankfurt. Era a.s. is a subsidiary of SRA International, Inc.,  that develops and implements large complex systems for government defense agencies and organizations.

In the press release Era claims that its Squid tracking units will support Frankfurt airport’s advanced surface movement control systems to minimize the risk of ground vehicle incursions into safety areas.  Squid units are using a fully standards compliant ADS-B transponder that continually broadcasts the location of a vehicle. This transponder is designed to be permanently or magnetically mounted to all air-side vehicles, including fire and rescue vehicles, tugs and antiicing equipment. Every vehicle can be  tracked uniquely and identified which provides an essential addition to the Advanced Surface Movement Guidance and Control System. The company informs that the technology  of the Squid units line are compatible with any vendor’s A-SMGCS.
