Whereoscope – An Easy Way To Track Your Kids With Your iPhone
What is Whereoscope

Wherescope iPhone app
Whereoscope is basically an app that allows an easy way to use your iPhone to track your child (or any other person) in case that he/she is equipped with an iPhone, too. Wherescope was formerly called ChildPulse, and this version of the application is still available to download at the Apple Store. However, the old version of the app has some limits, f.e. you are only able to set up two geofences which means to monitor only one child at a time. The new version allows you to monitor up to four kids and lets you to set up as many geofences as you like.
How it is different from other tracking apps
Whereoscope is different from many other existing iPhone tracking applications by its functionality as a background app. Thus, using
the app will not drain your battery quickly. There is also some built-in features that activates GPS mode only it’s really needed which means a relatively small impact on your battery life.
A FamilyMap competitor?
Wherescope can be seen as a real competitor of AT&T’s child-tracking service FamilyMap, which allows parents to monitor where their kids are, too. However the FamilyMap only uses cell tower data, and not a phone’s GPS cheap capacity, and that way yields less accurate results. The FamilyMap also doesn’t allow using geofences that allow a parent to receive an alert whenever their child gets to a defined location : school or back home.

Nice, but very limited. The fact that both parent and child must have an iPhone is shrinking the app‘s audience.
