Geodashing – A Funny Way To Find New Places Using A GPS unit
What is Geodashing?
Got a GPS device or a GPS-enabled phone? Join the new trend of GPS games – Geodashing! In this game, that is very similar to Geocaching, the players only need to have a good GPS receivers and an adventurous attitude. The playing field includes the entire planet and based on the scale of the game, so you might enjoy traveling all over the world to search for hidden dash points.
Geodashing Dash Points
Dash points (sometimes called waypoints) are marked all over the different parts of the globe and the player who captures the maximum flags within the shortest time wins the prize. Each game has a different set of waypoints or dash points as you may call them. Each time you reach a new dashpoint you will need to report it to the website. Each game is completely unpredictable and comes with its own set of unexpected thrills.
How is Geodashing different from Geocaching
Geodashing is just an off-shoot of Geocaching. But there no boxes here. A “scout” community member programs his random coordinates, and your job is only to find the dash points at least within 100 meters.
However, do not expect that geodashing will be a walk in the park. Sometimes the dash points may be located in a very remote location. Some of the players might need help via geocaching to help learn the basics of the game and improve as well. The difference between geocaching is that you do not have to leave anything at the waypoint once you have reached the destination. The sole point of geodashing is to reach the waypoint before the timer runs out.
So what are you waiting for? Go ahead activate your GPS and start gaming immediately!
